That sister of yours; love her as she loves you, and realize that she loves you infinitely, more than she does herself. – Fyodor Dostoyevsky
I’m Mara, 22 years old, currently attending university and finishing up my Bachelor of Arts in English Studies and Musicology. My mother and sister were both sworn-in bibliophiles long before I started my excessive reading, so I blame it all on them!
Besides books, I love a lot of things – coffee, The Avett Brothers, Placebo, leather jackets, Supernatural and too many other shows that have taken over my life, pumpkins, dream catchers, tulips, banana milkshakes, Lego and more suff that would probably make me look like a crazy person if I listed it here.
I’ve made this blog for my older sister Janina, who hasn’t just been my Buffy, Katniss, Dean, Jonas, Rose, Samwise and every other kickass hero/ine you can come up with, but who has given me the greatest thing ever – the love for books and stories and worlds and worlds and worlds on top of worlds. I love you and miss you and know you’d read this blog religiously if you were still here.
I felt like I had proof that not all days are the same length, not all time has the same weight. Proof that there are worlds and worlds and worlds on top of worlds, if you want them to be there. – Carol Rifka Brunt
My most favourite books include: The Raven Boys/The Dream Thieves (Maggie Stiefvater), The Lord of the Rings (J.R.R. Tolkien), Paper Towns/The Fault in Our Stars/Looking for Alaska (John Green), Brave New World (Aldous Huxley), The Outsiders (S.E. Hinton), The Catcher in the Rye (J.D. Salinger), The Giver (Lois Lowry), Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoyevsky), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde), seven Harry Potter books (J.K. Rowling), Frankenstein (Mary Shelley), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky), Cinder/Scarlet/Cress (Marissa Meyer), The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins), Heart of Darkness (Joseph Conrad), Tell the Wolves I’m Home (Carol Rifka Brunt), Jurrasic Park (Michael Crichton), Across the Universe (Beth Revis), Pushing the Limits (Katie McGarry), Slammed (Colleen Hoover), Perfect Ruin (Lauren DeStefano), Fangirl (Rainbow Rowell), six Vampire Academy books (Richelle Mead), five Percy Jackson books, four Heroes of Olympus books (Rick Riordan), Unteachable (Leah Raeder), The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald), Shadow and Bone (Leigh Bardugo) and probably a bunch of books I forgot to mention.
